So if you didn’t know this already, one of my best friends on the face of the planet blogs as The Newfangled Housewife and she’s fantastic. She’s all about baking substitutions and making wholesome baked goods (I seriously never switched out apple sauce for oil until I met her!).
Well recently she posted a recipe for some Vegan Breakfast Banana Cookies that I just HAD to try. She used wheat germ, but said that protein powder would probably work as well and also recommended a tad bit of honey to be added. I figured Shakeology would be the PERFECT thing to add to this delicious recipe– especially since I have the chocolate flavor– and BOY was I right!
I made 24 cookies which were honestly the perfect size for some pre-workout snacks. One or two definitely do the trick and keep it under the 200 calorie snack guideline most people live by. At 93 calories per cookie of chocolatey goodness– I mean seriously— I am in heaven (and the husband is a fan too!). I froze some for later so that we don’t feel pressured to eat the whole batch all at once (because they’re that good, you know the temptation is there).
Oh, and because they’re baked, you don’t have to worry about the banana getting all weird like some no-bake recipes encounter when not eaten right away.
It’s seriously a fantastic recipe. I LOVE making things with my Shakeology other than protein shakes because its fun to switch it up and take advantage of the fantastic flavor that comes with such great nutrients. If you remember, not too long ago, I made personal protein cookies that seriously are to die for and make you feel like you could run five miles afterward. I can’t wait to explore more in the kitchen with Shakeology. You’d think with me drinking it for well over a year, I would have experimented more recipe-wise with it. Well it’s better late than nevefI’ve heard there are great pancake recipes and even ice cream recipes. I’ll have to experiment sometime soon!
