Fighting For Real Food

Kraft has done American’s an injustice. Their iconic product that we all know and love (or at least consumed copious amounts of in college), aka. macaroni and cheese, has artificial food dyes that are merely for cosmetic effect, chemical laden, and not natural in the least. Why is this an injustice if tons of products on the market have these sorts of dyes too? Well Kraft’s Macaroni and Cheese doesn’t have these dyes in the UK. Why? Because the consumer fought back. They demanded to have a more wholesome product to offer their families. They said no to chemicals and yes to having their voices heard. Did you know that some of the substances that are added to our food are even banned in other countries around the world? That’s messed up.

One of my favorite blogs, 100 Days of Real Food, is hosting a petition to grab the attention of Kraft, just like our neighbors over the pond did to get their dye-free mac n’ cheese. Won’t you consider helping the cause? Getting such a huge company like Kraft to hear us on this issue could cause a chain reaction in other companies. Wouldn’t it be great to live in a world where we didn’t have to fear the mystery substances in our food?

Watch this video below to learn more about the dangers of yellow dye, see a side-by-side comparison of the macaroni and cheeses here and in the UK, and find out more about the petition. You can also read about the cause here.

I used to think processed food was just normal. It’s what was available and what everyone else ate, so it couldn’t be that bad… right? I never thought I’d ever be one of those people trying to make my own bread for any other reason besides it being cheaper and fun to do. But now, after researching, following the news, and more, I realize how processed foods are truly impacting our society in a negative way.

Sure, we can’t all be like Old McDonald and have a farm or being Mrs. Susie-Homemaker from the 50s and make everything from scratch and spend hours in the kitchen. But that’s why petitions like these are so important. If our society insists on having convenience foods, don’t you want to have the least artificial product you can? Don’t you want to eliminate the potentially harmful substances from your mac n’ cheese so you can feel good about what you’re feeding yourself and your children?

It’s time to think about our choices and fight for what we deserve. Please sign this petition today and help America take back the food she knows, loves, and deserves.

I’m really curious. What do you all think about this issue?
